Thank you for contacting Traceability Solutions Asia for your VIN marking requirements. I know you had a brief conversation with Khun Jackrapong; I would like to give you some information about our company and the various marking options available to TC Manufacturing & Assembly (Thailand) Co., Ltd.
Traceability Solutions Asia Co., Ltd (TSA) is a vibrant and a highly solutions focused company, selling the latest technology in, Identification, Traceability and Asset Management, to improve your product traceability. Please see the attached document called “How do you trace and identify your products?”
I have checked your website and I understand that your company does manufacturing for Mitsubishi Fuso trucks. We would recommend using Pryor Marking Technology from the United Kingdom for this project. http://www.tsasia.co.th/pryor-marking.html
Pryor has been making product in Sheffield UK for over 168 years, please have a look at this video.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MkWfPjLlA28, Both Pryor and TSA are very experienced with VIN marking.
Pryor supplies a complete range of solutions for (VIN) Vehicle Identification Number marking, which includes the following types of marking:
i. Laser
ii. Scribe
iii. Dot Peen
The choice of marking depends on your budget, marking depth requirement, cycle time, amount of automation and integration into your production line required.
Laser Marking:
Pryor's revolutionary laser VIN marking systems can mark a full 19 character code to 0.5mm depth in an unprecedented 4 seconds. Laser marking is non contact marking and does require expensive jigs and a clamping system to hold the equipment securely and firmly in place whilst marking is done.
Pryor has delivered fully robotic, vision guided systems which can automatically place a VIN on a chassis, engine or gearbox. VIN data can be input from a PLC, a barcode on a job sheet, an RFID tag, a spreadsheet or manually by an operator.
Key Points
• One of the fastest forms of Marking
• Highly Flexible
• Very reliable
• Low running costs
• No consumable costs
Dot and Scribe marking systems:
These systems can be either hand-held or with fixtures for a specific vehicle or integrated into production line systems for automated marking.
Scribe marking is relatively quiet when compared to Dot Marking and normally used when the Automotive OEM requires the following specification
Typical Requirements
Marking Depth: 0.3mm (minimum)
Character: 8mm (H) * 5mm (W)
Mark width of character: 0.8 to 1mm
Number of characters: 17
Note: The Pryor laser marking system can also meet this specification.
A scribe marking system does require a clamping system to hold the equipment securely and firmly in place whilst marking is done.
Key Points Scribe Marking
• Very Quiet
• High clarity continuous line marks to convey information with the greatest ease of legibility
• Ability to mark many different types of materials because it has adjustable force depth
• High Speed
A Dot marking system can be a relatively inexpensive solution where you use a hand held system and a locating jig to ensure accurate positioning of the mark. The standard machines are powered by electromagnetic solenoid and there is no need to connect air supply. Pryor also supplies an InDot Deep Pneumatic for deep marking or marking of dense materials. Dot system can also be incorporate into a fully automated system.
We can also offer Quality Management and Traceability software products to improve you traceability.
Although there is a lot of writing this is only a brief overview VIN marking. Both Khun Jackrapong and I would welcome a meeting with you when you have technical details from the OEM, so that we can customise a solution for TC Manufacturing & Assembly (Thailand) Co., Ltd.
