Another possibility to selectively increase the n−3 PUFA in themeat
from ruminants consists of feeding fully or partially protected lipid
sources. This was successful with linseed in some studies (Bilek &
Turhan, 2009; Casutt et al., 2000), although not always a substantial
degree of protection was found (Scollan et al., 2001). Nudda et al.
(2014) even reported a (limited) possibility to enrich the meat of the offspringwith
n−3 PUFA when feeding linseed to ewes.
