Fig.1 shows the general experimental setup for the measurement of cutting forces and temperature during the cryogenic milling. This setup consists of a cutting
force measurement system, a cryogenic cooling system and a liquid nitrogen tank. Measurements of cutting force along the x, y and z axes (Fx, Fy, Fz) and the torque about the z axis (Mz) are carried out on a Kistler four-component piezoelectric
platform type 9123C dynamometer. The rotating cutting force dynamometer can rotate with a speed of up to 10 000 r/min and has a natural frequency of 2 000 Hz. The cutting force measurement system is composed of a stator (Kistler type 52221B1), a connecting cable (Kistler type 1500B19) and a signal conditioner (Kistler type 5223B2) with multiple channels.
