Cephalexin (CLX) is a first-generation cephalosporin antimicrobial
with high water solubility (>1789 mg L1) and is widely used
for therapeutic purposes (Tsai et al., 2000). The effluent concentration
of CLX from a cephalosporin factory after treatment has
reported as 29 mg L1 in India (Sundararaman and Saravanane,
