It may be true that a lot of young adults today are trying so hard to find love, but there are also many couples who simply click with each other naturally and effortlessly. I am sincerely happy for the lucky latter.
Nevertheless, I personally am convinced that the first person you should ever try to love is yourself. There is no selfishness in that action, because you cannot love anyone right unless you can love yourself right. There is an old African saying that teaches: Never trust a naked person who offers you cloths. Nurture yourself first. Take good care of yourself. Put yourself at the top of the list, but this doesn't, in any fathomable way, suggest that you abandon people in your care to live on the street!
You work is to fill yourself up and keep your cup full. Keep yourself full. What's in the cup is for you and the overflow is for other people. If you fall short of filling your cup until your cup runneth over, you will not be happy with yourself and everything around you will therefore turn miserable - your relationships, your finance, your health, your works. But if you succeed in only making peace with yourself, everything else will, I promise you, fall into place. Every-thing!
Learning to love oneself is not just a piece of advice, but a requirement of life. No one in your life can be with you constantly and nobody is completely on your side. Yes, even your soulmate. Love yourself and then learn to extend that love to other people. You will notice that once you know how to love yourself, you automatically know how to love someone else. And when the storms of life come, as it surely will, you know you will not be moved because you are solidly grounded in you. And you know that eventually, this too shall pass.
A person who loves himself is the most attractive person. When you fill your cup until your cup runneth over, you can offer all of yourself - your skills, expertise, strengths, attention and care - in service to the world with a joyful heart and zealous energy. I wish you well in this effort.
Ps. Sorry for posting all in English. It's more convenient this way on my keyboard.
