Albert Bandura’s (1977) social learning theory is based on the idea that we learn from our interactions with others in a social context. Separately, by observing the behaviors of others, people develop similar behaviors. New concepts of social learning are being formed as new trends in distance education programs emerge. The rise in popularity of these programs increases the physical distance between educations and student. With this in mind, relying on in-person classroom and face-to-face interactions to provide all of social learning needs is a thing of the past. How can people learn by observation and interaction a distance education environment where there is no in-person contact taking place?
