Appreciative inquiry is analogous to the open philosophy associated with Web 2.0
technologies. It embodies a social constructionist philosophy focused on collective
action to discover the best, good, and true in an organization when it is or was at its
healthiest. When organizational members focus on their collective history of successful
experiences, they begin to generate positive images of an optimistic and high-achieving
future – where the present requires action as if the positive images of the future were
already present (Adamset al., 2004).
