2. Method
A previously developed self-testing vision screener (Menozzi,
2013) served as a reference for the settings used in the experimental
evaluation. Fig. 1 shows an examinee taking a test at the
previously developed vision screener. The instrument is based on a
Rodatest 302 (Vistec, Olching, Germany) vision screener. The forehead
rest of the instrument is equipped with a screen blocking the
view of the surroundings in the upper hemifield of the examinee.
The lower hemifield is partially occluded by the stand of the instrument.
Therefore, examinees are able to see their hands and
arms at about 60 in the lower part of the peripheral visual field.
