DMARDs
DMARDs are the treatment of choice, with current recommendations suggesting therapy is initiated within 3 months of diagnosis to prevent joint damage and disease progression.[3,4] Medications classified as DMARDs are an unrelated group of drugs defined by their use in RA to slow disease progression. A variety of DMARDs originate from different drug classes; examples include methotrexate (a chemotherapy drug), hydroxychloroquine (an antimalarial), and cyclosporine and azathioprine (classified as immunosuppressants).
