This study demonstrated that each percent reduction in the total carbon content would result in an average decrease in particle emission factor by 2.6 mg/g-incense. The effect of reduction, in terms of the slope, is even more pronounced at higher particle emissions. Therefore, simply by choosing and using raw materials with lower total carbon content during incense manufacturing one can significantly cut down the particle emission in smoke and hence reduce the health risk.
