Technology use among older adults is an area of growing interest within research communities. Literature surrounding older adults and technology discuss the implications of monitoring technologies for older adults who are maintaining an independent living lifestyle (Birnholtz et al., 2010). Other researchers investigate the use of computers as a healthcare resource among the elderly (Lorence, 2006). Furthermore, while scholars seek to address the implications of technology use among older adults, so too does the emotional relationship of technology and older adults receive research attention (Miller et al., 2015). In previous studies, the case study of emergency alarms was used to further investigate how emergency alarm users feel when interacting with technologies (Miller et al., 2015; Pedell et al., 2014). They also demonstrate how emotional goal modelling can be used as a framework to further understand how technology should support the expected emotions of a user and that ‘emotional goals address how the user feels
