The -diversity measure is originally defined as the relativechange in species composition between geographical locations. In our pre-vious study, we have proposed the compositional variability ontemporal scale may also be considered as a -diversity senso latu, and demonstrated that the - and -diversity measures based onspecies accumulative curves may reflect the water quality statusduring a 1-year cycle. In this study, the disper-sion measures based on both matrices of community structure andspecies composition showed significant correlations with the -diversity measures and did well reflect the water quality statusamong the four stations during the study period although the dis-persion analyses ignored the seasonal shift that was driven by the“nature” environmental variables at each station.
