Beauty is part of it but that TV was also playing clips of happy memories (they looked like family videos). It's also the most interesting thing in that whole room of nothingness for a just opened very sophisticated robot to be entertained by. Think about it, if there were some cute puppies or something she may not have felt the need to pull so hard for the TV. So luckily in life there are other things to focus on and we're not all chained to boxes in gray rooms with nothing but a tv that abandons us slowly. It could be about perception, not reality. What if instead of pulling out makeup from the back of her head, she had studied the tv itself. Maybe she just didn't know that she could pull anything she needed out of her mind simply by wanting it. If she did she would have built her own tv that couldn't be pulled away from her.
Or she had only been supplied with makeup and programmed to put it on and this is some sick twisted experiment some jerk scientists did to a robot.
