Ozone layer
Harmful ultraviolet(UV) rays from the sun can cause skin cancer and cataracts in humans. The ozone layer in the upper atmosphere protects us from these rays. This layer is depleted by the use of human-made chemicals called chlorofluorocarbons (CFVs). CFCs are present in aerosols, refrigerator coolant equipment, foam, and some chemicals released by industrial plants. Scientists have found an ozone hole in the Antarctic stratosphere, which is a cause of great concern.
