Fracture micrographs (Fig. 1b, d, f, h) showed homogeneity of
rice starch films and of rice flour film sections. Considering that rice
flour films are composed of starch, protein and lipid in different
amounts, starch being the major component, it can be concluded
that the dense areas of the polymeric matrix are composed of
starch. The homogeneous matrix of these films is a good indicator
of their structural integrity, and consequently good mechanical
properties would be expected (Mali et al., 2002).
