Thailand's beautiful new 12-billion-baht riverside parliament building in the Kiakkai area of Bangkok is supposed to be finished today.
It won't be.
In fact, it won't be finished by this time next year either.
First of all, a nearby school has not yet transferred its land to the new parliament. That should happen early next year, but the school then needs to be demolished.
Secondly, a lot of soil has been dug up for the construction of the parliament building, but it has not been removed from the area. That should happen in the next 20 days.
Altogether, the construction company building the parliament has been given 387 more days to finish.
Actually, the company wanted 487 days, so will the new parliament be finished on schedule this time? Maybe. Maybe not.
