Results and discussion
Results of the financial feasibility of on-farm anaerobic biogas recovery for the base scenario analysis (i.e., without nonmarket cobenefits) are presented first. This analysis is consistent with the objectives of an individual farmer or private planner focusing primarily on potential private returns from investing in on-farm biogas energy production. Subsequently, the effects of nonmarket cobenefits on the financial feasibility of biogas energy production are discussed. The analysis incorporating various nonmarket cobenefits is consistent with the objectives of a social planner interested in the benefits of biogas energy recovery to a farmer or investor and the rest of society.
