The aim of this present study is to reconstruct the growth equations by applying otolith reading to one of important LM fishes, chevron snakehead Channa striata (Channidae: Perciformes). This species is very common in Asia and shows wide distributes from Pakistan to Thailand and South China and can inhabit in wide range of habitats such as ponds, wetlands, rivers, especially in a lowland rivers, and estuaries (Amilhat and Lorenzen, 2005; Froese and Pauly, 2012). Given that this fish lives in wide range of habitats, analyses to primarily investigate differences in growth rates and sizes of C. striata due to different major habitats, i.e. between the lotic- and lentic- environments, from 2 sampling sites were also done.
