P. canariensis seed oil is extracted by hexane solvent. The unique fatty acid and tocols composition, high absorbance of UV light, and other desirable physicochemical characteristics indicate potential uses of P. canariensis seed oil in food, pharmaceutics, cosmetics and other non-food industries. However, the safety of this oil must be tested before use for human nutrition. The production of oil from P. canariensis seed provides the use of renewable resource, and at the same time adding value to agricultural products.
