3.7. Vegetation
The vegetation above the ¯ood plain is consistent
with the Cross Timbers Woodland (Harker and Evans,
1993) composed mainly of post oak (Quercus stellata)
and blackjack oak (Quercus marilandica) and associated
with eastern red cedar (Juniperus virginiana).
Understory growth consists of woody shrubs and
vines, mixed prairie grasses and herbaceous prairie
plants.
