In this experiment, we consider the AGV congestion, AGV
utilization and throughput. AGV congestion is an important output
variable for determining the economic design of the system and
its efficiency of operation. In this paper, congestion represents
the percentage of time that vehicles that were attempting to
move were blocked (for example, because they were waiting
behind a stopped vehicle on the guide-path). AGV utilization is the
percentage of total simulation time that vehicles spent delivering
and retrieving parts (i.e., AGV utilization = 1 — the percentage of
total simulation time that is spent going to the parking spot and in
parking). The system throughput is the output variable that is the
most fundamental for the evaluation of system performance and
is used for the forecast and evaluation of system capacity. Table 1
presents the specification of the critical factors that are considered
in this study.
