Both partners of a symbiotic interaction receive
a benefit. This is obvious in both the anemonefish and
crustacean–sea anemone associations. Not only fish, but
also its eggs laid beside the sea anemone, as well as crustaceans
are protected from predators by the tentacles of the
host, more specifically by the nematocysts injecting painful
and lethal toxins. On the other hand, the host is fiercely
defended by the anemonefish against anemone predators
such as butterflyfish (Godwin and Fautin, 1992). Holbrook
and Schmitt (2005) observed that the fish enhanced
anemone survivorship, since those anemones not defended
by anemonefishes suffered higher mortality
