But my main approach to wine in Bangkok has been twofold:
1. In hot weather, I tend to prefer beer. Not "industrial" SE Asian lagers unless consumed in a traditional way - with ice. Fortunately, Villa and some other markets have good choices in more characterful beers. And there are always the microbreweries of Thailand - few that they may be! And, of course, there is the German BeerHaus on Suk Soi 11, the Huntsman in the basement of the Landmark Hotel, etc. to turn to.
2. In hot weather, I also tend to cut my wine with mineral water. A sin learned in southern Italy. San Pellegrino being the favoured mineral water. To concoct one's own wine-flavoured cooler. Rather better than Spy..
3. I find that with especially spicy Thai food, Chateau de Loei Rose, from Thailand's oldest winery (?) can be OK.
There are many options from the bigger Australian wineries available in Bangkok. If you stare at the selection, you might find a type, at a price, that you can live with.
