High speed blender. The high speed horizontal paddle mixer (Figure 9-14) is best suited for mixing fine ingredients and molasses. With fine ingredients, there is a tendency for molasses to ball, unless mixing speeds are relatively high; although, if these mixers are slowed and the molasses has been preheated, up to 50% molasses may be applied on high absorbent ingredients. The high speed molasses blender is often used in-line after a horizontal or vertical batch mixer for the addition of molasses or other liquids to meal feeds.
