High IQ is inherent potential. EQ are skills you can develop.
EQ develops through good nurture or training. IQ is the quality of your nature and is fixed.
High IQ (being gifted) as a kid means you have different needs than other kids. When you dont meet these needs then you dont develop high EQ.
So people with high IQ doesnt mean they are not as talented at EQ they just develop it differently than average IQ.
But our society doesnt meet their needs and focuses on quantity rather than quality. That means it treats every child as if they are average.
Thats why people with high IQ as you mention do not usually have high EQ. Their nurture is suited for average IQ children and so their EQ is not developed when they reach adulthood. Likewise average IQ people has better EQ when reaching adulthood cause their nurture was suited for their needs.
Managers and high ranking employees (which is what is translated as success in society) are average IQ, High EQ. But world leaders, top sucessfull bussinessmen, master craftsmen and artists, revolutionary inventors, important scientists etc. Are all high EQ, High IQ.
So IQ is how big is your potential and EQ is your tool to reach the maximum of that potential. So no its not one is more important vs the other, its both are important depending on your ambition.
