4. Conclusions
According to improvements in germination percentage, seedling
length, a-amylase activity, GABA content, amount of TPCs,
and antioxidant capacity of germinated brown rice, we showed
that low pressure plasma has a significant effect on the induction
of brown rice germination. Possible mechanisms could be thatthe plasma treatment results in an etching of the brown rice
surface, which allows water to be easily absorbed by the rice kernel
and increases germination.
Therefore, exposure to plasma 237 may be very useful for plant
propagators in nurseries to achieve rapid rice seedling
establishment. In addition, we focused on the fact that GABA
occurs naturally in brown rice and endeavored to manufacture
germinated brown rice with increased GABA levels.
