Given these findings, therefore, what can be expected of the future of performance/
user satisfaction indicators in British local government? Certainly, despite widespread
problems reported here and elsewhere it does not appear to be the case that they are
about to be disbanded. This is especially so given the enhanced status of user satisfaction
indicators by both major British political parties in recent years. What seems more
certain, however, is that a number of revisions will be made to the current suite of
performance/user satisfaction indicators in order to ensure an even more robust suite in
the future
