This paper describes an experience,heldwithaclassofprimaryschoolchildren,aimedto
introduce anoveleducationaltopic,thesmartmaterials,andtheinterfacesbuiltwith
them (SmartMaterialInterfaces).Thepupilswereguidedalongamultidisciplinarypathin
whichtraditionalandinnovativeteachingmethodswerecomposedforeducatingwhile
engagingthechildren.Itledtothecreationof6automatedpuppetplaysfocusedonthe
themes ofenvironmentalawarenessasaresult.Inthisprocess,storytellingandvisual
programmingactedaspowerfulmeansformergingdifferenteducationalconceptsand
techniques.Thedatacollectedthroughthedirectobservationandthequestionnaires
indicate thattheexperiencewasperceivedaspositiveandinteresting.Thepostevalua-
