The
principles of GCP have been standard in industrysponsoredindustrysponsored
research for many years, and indeed set an
international standard for the conduct of research
involving human subjects. These standards do not
specifically address the roles of clinical research nurses
in supporting clinical research. Additional guidance and
application ofGCP principles have also been proposed by
clinical societies, such as the American Society for Clinical
Oncology, for use by their members in setting standards
and institutional policy.82 As adherence to these
standards becomes an expectation across all settings, it
is important to document the contribution of CRNs and
their role in meeting these standards
