The association between birth weight and perinatal mortality was modified by gestational age. Preterm babies whose birth was < 2500g were
more likely to die (OR= 11.43, CI (3.02 – 43.26)) than term babies (OR= 1.45, CI (0.62 – 3.59)) of low birth weight. Delivering at home was a
confounder in the association between birth weight and perinatal mortality. Home delivery was causing an overestimate of the strength of
association. Parity was a confounder in the association between pregnancy complications and perinatal mortality resulting in an overestimate of the
strength of association.
