as you can see, most strong bases are group 1A or group 2A metal hydroxides. the group 1A metal hydroxides are highly soluble in water and can form concetrated base solution. the group 2A metal hydroxides, however, are only slightly soluble, useful property for some applications (see the chemistry and medicine box in this section).
