2.5. Stage 4: analyzing data
The researcher’s job is hardly finished when
enough data in company sites has been collected. The
researcher’s challenge is not just to observe, listen and
record in a systematic manner. Much of the important
data come from analyzing and interpreting what
individuals are trying to say. Case-based fieldwork
involves participating with people in understanding
everyday life analytically. Geertz (1983, p. 12) suggests
that it is the “aim to render obscure matters
intelligible by providing them with an informing
context”, including time and place.
