Nestlé is a company founded on caring: for our consumers, for the environment and for our work colleagues. It is this spirit of caring which informs both our ultimate safety & health (S&H) goal of zero injuries & illnesses, and our approach to achieving it. Fundamental to this approach is the creation of a mutually supportive work environment in which we all care for - and look out for - each other: giving “the gift of feedback” to help each other stay safe and healthy.
Nestlé has accumulated many years of experience of developing, implementing and operating behavioural feedback processes to support S&H. That experience - gained across different businesses, cultures and geographies - tells us that well designed and implemented feedback processes help us to prevent injuries & illnesses by:
• Promoting personal ownership & engagement;
• Encouraging safe behaviours, and challenging at-risk behaviours; and
• Ensuring compliance with agreed S&H rules and procedures.
This document is based on the learnings from those many years of experience. It describes the Nestlé approach to behavioural feedback, as it relates to S&H, sets out minimum requirements for local processes, and provides extensive guidance on practical implementation.
This document replaces the “15-Point Checklist” for Behaviour-Based Safety (BBS), which defined Nestlé requirements in the past. This new GI builds on the core concepts established in that checklist and sets out a more robust and holistic approach.
