All else equal, previous research has shown an individual inspector’s cognitive style has a large impact of the inspector’s ability to visually inspect a part. A series of ten tests were administered by Gallwey (1982) in hopes of discovering a method to determine if aperson would be able to perform an inspection task at a certain level of success. Schwabish and Drury (1984) also classified an inspector based on their cognitive style.
