I Invitation comes in written text and conversation. Types of invitation are formal and informal. In formal invitation, we use formal language such as would like to replace want. Informal invitation tends to use casual language.
Here is an example of a formal written invitation:

Bandung, 1st September 2014
Dear Teachers,
We would like to invite you to attend our monthly meeting on 2nd September 2014, at 16.00. The venue is Teachers Room.
The meeting agenda will discuss the new curriculum and trainings for teachers. We also would like to show you the new classroom management for the coming school year.
We do appreciate if you could attend this meeting, since it is one of our top priorities.
Please confirm as soon as possible.

In the example above, we can see the composition of formal invitation.
The structure is:
1. Company name with address
2. Date
3. Greetings
4. Opening, usually starts with “Dear …” (name of recipient)
5. Body of the invitation
6. Closing
7. Signature and name

To all students of SMA X
All class basketball competition will be held on 7th September 2014.
