Product development and commercialization is the process that provides the structure for developing and bringing products to market jointly with customers and suppliers.
Effective implementation of the process not only enables management to coordinate the efficient flow of new products across the supply chain, but also assists other members of the supply chain with the ramp-up of manufacturing, logistics, marketing and other activities necessary to support the commercialization of the product.
The product development and commercialization process team must coordinate with customer relationship management process teams to identify customer articulated and unarticulated needs; select materials and suppliers in conjunction with the supplier relationship management process teams; and, work with the manufacturing flow management process team to develop production technology to manufacture and integrate into the best supply chain flow for the product/market combination.
