1. Introduction
Rubber blends have been widely used in many
applications due to their compromised properties.
Blends of natural rubber (NR) and ethylenepropylene
diene monomer (EPDM) have gained
much attention over the past three decades because
it is thought that, when properly blended, the NR/
EPDM blend could possess good physical properties
with adequately high aging and ozone resistance
[1–4]. Even though good ozone resistance could be
achieved easily in NR/EPDM blends, satisfactory
physical properties are difficult to attain due to the
cure incompatibility between NR and EPDM[5]. As
NR is highly unsaturated, it is chemically reactive.
