In our study callus was induced on leaf segments of C. persicum cv. ‘Halios’ 15 days after culture on all media. Two types of callus formed: one was transparent and watery (Fig. 1C) while the other was opaque, white and compact (Fig. 1D). Similar observations were reported by Otani and Shimada (1991). In our study we found no differences between two concentrations of media on callus formation. Mean callus induction percentage was 51%. There was no statistical difference between MS and 1/2 MS medium. Callus induction percentage was affected by the type of medium used and the PGR concentration, ranging from 22 to 66%.
which is in agreement with the observations of Ando and Murasaki
