The buck-boost type ac-dc converter has step-up or stepdown output voltage characteristics, and also the capability of
limiting the inrush and dc-short-circuit current [S] [9].Therefore, this type of converter is much more suitable for
power supplies requiring wide range output voltage operation. Hence, this work focuses on a new single phase Buck-Boost type ac-dc converter and their control aspects. This rectifier reduces the number of the semiconductors in which the current flows, since it uses only two switches. Such a reduction can be expected to significantly improve efficiency.
