My Bachelor of Science major field of study was Food Science and Technology, Chiang Mai University, Thailand. I completed my study on May 2015 with a GPA of 3.46 out of 4.00. Throughout the period of studying in University, I participated in the activities of the University and also do activities outside the University. For example, visit food factories consistent with the course of study and one of my impression activity are “The Getting to Know CPF 2013 Program” by Charoen Pokphand Foods Public Company Limited, Bangkok. I elected faculty representatives participating. In the program, I have visited for learning in the operation of the company, chickens processing in the industry and poultry farm. I have done the activity for building friendship and exchange ideas or opinion of participant, who come from around the country of Thailand. After the activity is completed, I have the experience and knowledge about the manufacturing management like HACCP and HALAL. Moreover, I joined the Internship Program of Japanese students from Faculty of Agriculture, Kagawa University, Japan. This activity held at Faculty Agro-Industry, Chiang Mai University. I glad to joining with Japanese students. We were changing opinion and share the experience with each other. For academic I have interest and do well in the subjects, especially in Food Chemistry, Food Analysis, and subjects of base on chemistry. According to the current consumer attention in choosing a healthy diet that it can prevent diseases. So I have an interest in the domestic plants like Perilla and below is the cause for I choose it.
1. The Perilla seed, usually from the species Perilla frutescens, had contained oil that is a good source of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs). The Perilla seed oil consistently contains the highest proportion of omega-3 (ALA) fatty acids, omega-6 (linoleic acid) component and omega-9 (Oleic acid). Omega fatty acids are the essential for our health. So, the omega-3s and 6s must be obtained through our diet or by supplementation.
2. In ice cream have contained fat that from milk fat. In addition, ice cream is poor in polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) and phenolics.
Therefore in my final year of study, I did a research project about supplementation of Perilla (Perilla frustescens) oil in dairy ice cream. The addition of the oil did not significantly affect most of physicochemical characteristics of the dairy ice cream. However, the presence of the oil significantly improved the phenolic content of the dairy ice cream and higher addition levels of the oil significantly increased the 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH). A good result from this study motivated me to learn more about antioxidant compounds and functional food.
If I have a chance to study further, I would like to continue working about these topics. There is a possibility to identify new antioxidant compounds from domestic food plants, to incorporate the antioxidant compounds in specific food products without affect their sensory characteristics, to do the encapsulation of antioxidant elements or to investigate how the antioxidant chemical or food containing the compounds affect lifestyle related diseases, such as cancer. I would like to apply the research student in Food Science especially study antioxidant compound because from take care my aunt, who is patients of cancer, reading and learning many research for my research project. I benefited a lot from these antioxidants are associated with food that consumers eat with the benefits, this caught my attention and created a thirst of knowledge in me to study my chosen course. So I have study plan to Japan as follows.
1. I would like to study deeper theoretical and practical knowledge about functional food, especially antioxidant compound in domestic food plants. During my studies, I will try to come up with the best of everything; to accompany the professors and university colleagues in carrying out research and exploring for immense exciting industrial mysteries in this field. After research finish, I sincerely hope that I can contribute to increasing knowledge in the fields of research, as a reference to the purpose of product development in the food industry, and enhance the living standards of consumers.
2. I have to know Japanese in a level that I can be used in everyday life and work in the future as well. The goal that after I graduated with a Master's degree, I have to pass JLPT N2. During a research student, I have the intention to study Japanese in the classroom and outside by practiced in daily life. I believe that the environment would make me reach that goal as well. In addition. I can teach Thail language for who is interested its. This activity is language exchange and build a good relationship between Thailand and Japan combined assets.
3. In addition to the research-related technology. I also want to study the cultural traditions and religious tradition aluminum. Japan I'm very impressed For culture, the more valuable And can be maintained and preserved for posterity, and who are interested to study. That does not disappear into the technology. I am interested in activities such as Tea ceremony, Soran bushi dance, and travel at different places for learning life, food, and the use of specific language.
From 15 years ago, I received the opportunity to learn the Japanese language by Japanese’s teachers in the first time and a first impression to become the driving force for me to study in Japan at this time. Moreover, I am really impressed by the way these individuals have proven themselves to be dedicated to their work and with true efforts, technological advancement and the global ranking education institutes of Japan with high reputation makes a great aspiration to the students. Nowadays, wider world has a high rate of disease, particularly cancer. I would like to do research closely with my supervisor in the area of Food Science especially study antioxidant compound that can help to consume healthy food products. I am confident that the research will benefit the development in the food industry. In terms of product development And is useful in the medical care and other work to prevent or reduce the risk of disease. Moreover, Japanese’s diverse cultural norms and values, the famous gentle hospitality of its people and acceptance and peace to both sides in great clarity make me feel Japan as my second homeland. All these reasons put together make Japan an ideal place for me to do my research student and Masters degree in the future.
