Danish architects from AART have developed the house which produces more energy than it consumes. Home for Life is located near Aarhus in Denmark and is a self-sufficient demo project. Because of an array of solar devices such as solar collectors, solar cells and a solar heat pump, the house generates more energy than it requires to sustain itself.
The window area of the house is twice that of a traditional house to allow maximum daylight and reduce the demand for electricity. Automatic window opening mechanisms let in fresh air while the sensors in the house turn off lights when an occupant leaves the room. Besides its eco-friendly features, the house has a very nice modern look, too.
