Feeding and Digestion
Filter feeding is very common in copepodsand many of the small planktonic crus-taceans (see Fig. 15.7). Stiff, hair-like bris-tles on some appendages are used to catchfood particles in the water. Particles arecarried to the bristles by currents inducedby the beating of other appendages. Stillother specialized appendages move foodfrom the bristles to the mouth. Parasiticcrustaceans have appendages adapted forpiercing and sucking
