MC: To explain the third and final strategy under the goal of Improving Athlete Opportunities, I’d like to introduce you to:
international global messenger Chanchai Kemkaew and National Director Nui Bulakul, both of whom are from Thailand in Asia
Chanchai: People with Intellectual Disabilities are often left out of health systems that are not equipped to diagnose and treat them.
Your feedback provided strong support for continuing our health work which, thanks to supporters such as the Golisano Foundation, has a big impact. It also makes sense from a sports perspective – if I am fit and healthy, I can compete at my best.
Nui: We want to continue expanding our health programs by:
Improving follow up care through partnerships
Integrating fitness and wellness opportunities, and digital technology, into Healthy Athletes and Healthy Communities
Engaging international organizations and Governments to raise awareness and adopt inclusive health policies
And finally raising awareness of health issues at a local level through athletes and families
Chanchai: So what does success look like? It is fitter, healthier athletes. It means having a place to go for follow-up care which means far more Healthy Communities. And it means that healthcare systems available to others also being available to people with intellectual disabilities
