to overcome the height gain, the drag loss and that required for
acceleration, are summed to 64 kJ. A typical 500W permanent
magnet brushed DC motor has an efficiency of 78% [14],
loosely assumed to remain constant across its operating range.
The required motor driver would typically be 80% efficient.
This results in an energy requirement of 102 kJ (electrical).
