Before further conclusions are drawn, one should note that the present study was conducted during a period during which
no epidemics occurred. Disease outbreaks may alter the movements of chickens. Thus, the results of this study may be
mainly applicable to the period when the infection is present but not yet diagnosed or when epidemics are of limited extent.
Further studies are necessary to evaluate the impact of disease epidemics on the pattern of live chickens’ movements. Also,
fighting cocks, which can be reared together with other backyard chickens, were not considered in our study.
