FRBR is an important and relatively recent recommendation for the enriched description of creative works in
digital indexes. In the recent digital library literature, however, the number of works addressing the use of FRBR is
surprisingly small. Our own previous work and other
publications have already demonstrated the need for
FRBR or equivalent functionality. This paper seeks to increase the profile of FRBR in the DL community, and also
demonstrates how it can be used to improve the features
and functionality of the reader’s experience of using a digital library. We also illustrate an extension of the Greenstone
Librarian Interface (GLI) toolbox for digital librarians that
supports the use of FRBR in an interactive indexation tool.
