f you didn’t get my update on the movie summary, here is that extra info
“Some things I forgot, but think are important.
- Towards the end but before the kiss scene, where Naruto is holding Hinata’s hand and they’re running through the mini moon-room that shows the memories of them together, they start of in their movie forms, then the screen cuts to some of the moons showing their memories. It then cuts back to Naruhina, this time in their Shippuden forms. Then back to the moons, and this time Naru Hina are at their pre-Shippuden/ part 1 ages. It cuts to the mini-moons, now this time NaruHina are at their youngest, the ages they were at when they first met at the beginning of the movie.
OH MY GOD. HOW could I possibly forget this. This was the single most emotional thing about this movie and the bit that ties everything together. I cried at this. I’m crying now writing this. I think I just had an emotion-induced mental block of this detail when I wrote this summary. I’m very sorry. I’m going to cry in my corner now. TT_TT
- Hanabi DOES get her eyes back. After Toneri is defeated Hinata strolls right up to him and says ‘Ill be taking Hanabis eyes back now’. And plucks them right out his head. Hanabi is shown later, eyes in tact. You go big sis.
-The very last shot of NaruHina’s wedding during the credits shows the main cast of the movie standing together, and Hanabi is holding a photo of the deceased Neji.”

Other notes about the movie:
-there is NO screen time for other couples in the movie.
-Sasuke is only in a couple of minutes in the film. His only speaking line is the same one from the trailer.
-Shino/ Kiba have no speaking lines, or close ups. They are only shown for a few seconds eating ramen, and in the background in the Academy classroom scene.
-Tenten isn’t in it except for a still frame of her, Sakura and Ino with Hinata at NaruHina’s wedding.
-Lee is only in it once when he destroys a comet.
- Gai is in his wheelchair in one scene behind Kakashi, but has no speaking lines (as far as I can remember)
-Tsunade and Shizune appear once when they evacuate the people of Fire Country into an underground bunker.
-Gaara appears once during the Kage meeting. He appears once using his sand as a shield to defend Suna against the comets (Temari is also behind him). He appears again on the TV when the Kage have a TV conference to discuss whether the Cloud should use their Chakra canon to destroy the moon.
- The woman with thick glasses and sandy blonde hair seems to be Kakashi’s assistant.
- Kurenai’s daughter is called Mirai.
-The red scarf that Hinata knits for Naruto symbolizes their relationship. In Japanese culture, a red thread tied to the pinky finger of a couple is symbolic of a relationship/ destiny with that person. The fact this scarf is red is very significant. This movie alludes to this ‘red thread’ image when it wraps around Naruto when they are trapped in the memory genjutsu. As soon as the scarf does this (seemingly of its own accord), Naruto is able to see Hinata’s memories. It’s after he sees these memories that he starts to fall for her, so the scarf in this scene is the big turning point to Naruto’s feelings towards Hinata.
Also when the scarf gets destroyed after Naruto’s confession and Hinata leaves with Toneri, this is symbolic of their bond breaking, since Naruto feels Hinata has betrayed him.
-When Toneri comes down from the moon on a red platform to get Hinata, this alludes to the traditional Japanese story of the Bamboo Cutter. The main character of this story is Princess Kaguya, who is a Princess from the moon and is raised by an old human couple. At the end of the story the Gods from the moon come down to collect her and take her back with them on a red boat called the Takarabune.
Toneri’s ‘platform’ is almost chariot-like and is red and gold like the Takarabune. Of course, you also have the imagery that Toneri is from the moon, and wants to take Hinata back with him. Toneri refers to Hinata as the Byakugan Princess throughout the film, and she is directly descended from Kaguya. Basically, Hinata is treated like ‘Kaguya-hime’ from the Japanese fairytale.
[And I would like to say, I actually predicted this development in the story, so I’m quite proud of myself lol]
