The cellulase used was produced by Trichoderma sp. EUA20, a
potential cellulase hyperproducer developed by our group (unpublished
results). The enzyme mixture contained 16.14 ± 0.68 IU/mL
of filter paper cellulase (FPase), 52.75 ± 0.57 IU/mL endoglucanase,
4.94 ± 0.21 IU/mL beta-glucosidase, 82.61 ± 2.01 IU/mL xylanase,
and 2.46 ± 0.03 IU/mL beta-xylosidase. Enzymatic hydrolysis was
carried out in 100 mL of 50 mM citrate buffer (pH 4.8) in 250 mL
conical flasks incubated in an orbital shaking water bath at 50 C
and 150 rpm for 96 h. Enzyme loading was 30 IU FPase per gram
OPEFB and biomass loading was 15% (w/v).
