as a part of this campaign, in 2011 they launched "the people's car project" , which invited consumers of share their ideas for new car designs -a car by the people, for the people. a total of 121000 ideas were submitted, and 265 conversations were held via social media. one girl's submissions was selected and vw build her concept hover car, using magnetism. a girl's dream came true, made her hometown famous, her family proud, and attracted widespread media coverage and attention nationwide.
