I think you misunderstood. I did not label your approach as a terrible disservice. I think if you look back at the context, I was making a general statement about people who refer to teenagers as "young adults". Your approach does not do necessarily do that and I didn't mean to imply that it did, but I often see this being done. The point I was trying to make is that we need to treat middle school kids like middle school kids, and teenagers like teenagers ... they are not miniature adults.
Not all approaches are equally valuable as you seem to imply. One approach might be the best one in a given situation. Your approach may not be the best one for my situation, and my approach may not be the best one for your situation. But we both have the same goal of preparing our students for the future to the best of our ability.
